Lauren Yabut Honored by Rhode Island Chapter of National Association of Social Workers

Social Worker of the Year - Again award

Please join us in congratulating Lauren J. Yabut, LCSW, Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and Assisted Living Administrator. Lauren has been awarded the honor of Social Worker of the Year in Aging by the Rhode Island Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.

In Lauren’s 16 years at Charlesgate, she has served as the Director of Resident Services, Administrator of Charlesgate Nursing Center, and is currently the Administrator of Charlesgate Senior Living Center.  Lauren has been a devoted advocate for the elderly and adult disabled populations of Rhode Island.  Her passion is to support the members of the Charlesgate community, assuring the provision of the highest quality care and access to benefits and services that allow our elders and adults with disabilities to maintain success in remaining in their homes for as long as safely possible.

It was this passion that led her to pursue her MSW from Rhode Island College in 2014 and a certificate in long-term care administration from St. Joseph’s College of Maine, while balancing her leadership roles at Charlesgate, various volunteer activities and raising two children with her husband, Mark.

Lauren strives to combine quality social services and program administration in order to provide compassionate person-centered care to the residents of Charlesgate. Lauren describes her team’s greatest successes in the following way:  “While healthcare and social services continue to be the targets of funding cuts, we have had great success transitioning people from a skilled nursing facility to back independent living. Often, our residents need a transition period in our Assisted Living community to build on the rehabilitative successes they experience in a long-term care setting. Once we can provide the resident with the strategies and confidence to maintain independence, they can return to higher levels of independence in a safe and affordable environment. The entire Charlesgate team takes pride in the numerous success stories of this type. Together, we share in the success of adding to the long list of opportunities our care continuum provides to our community.”

Lauren will be given this honor along with other NASW Social Work honorees in other Social Work disciplines at the NASW annual awards celebration on June 22.

Congratulations, Lauren! We appreciate the work you do every day.
